I still dont think you get the concept of being a child and being a creation. My child is my child. Those who are God's children still mess up. But the promise does not fade for HIS CHILDREN. My child wont suffer because that is still my child. My life still is apart of them.

I think you need to first sort out that difference.

You said that God's spirit bears witness with your spirit...but How? Have you been born again? Have you believe on Christ?

You cant have the Spirit of God without Christ. Therefore you cant be His child without Christ. This is the first step.

Actually I completely understand what you are saying. I completely understand the arbitrary distinction that you draw between his children and not-his children. Here is another way to look at it: you are anti-abortion right? What are some of the arguments you use to support this position: life begins at conception, life is beautiful and unique, if you don't want a baby then don't have one. If abortion is *never* the answer for a human parent, why is it acceptable to your [notion] of god?

It seems that you want the rights of a child but not the responsibility. You want to be a child of God yet not believe his Word.

I have never said that I think people should be free to act however they please. My argument is that interpreting the bible as the word of god is hard to defend. No matter how many times you say "but it is the word of god" you still have not addressed the argument.

Like-wise in this scenerio you painted. People want to the right to have sex outside of marriage, or even in marriage, but not be responsible for the outcome.

So, what you are saying is this: it is ok that your [notion of] god rejected his responsibility for his creation, initially, by killing them off in a flood? hmmh, lets see, are there other stories in the bible where [your notion of] god kills his creation? Yup. Please answer: how can an act be immoral for man but ok for [your notion of ] god. It can't.

This is not an arbitrary distinction. It is one set by the life that you have in you. No matter how much a monkey puts on clothes does sign language and other things that man does, it is still a monkey. The distinctin is in the life-type.

Are you calling someone who does not believe in your [notion of] god a monkey?

Peace

Your issue is not with us but with God. Telling Him what you tell to us.

No, my issue is with your [notion of] god. There is a huge difference. I'm not trying to tell you there is no dog. Your [notion of] god has so many beautiful, abstract, ideas like selflessness and forgiveness, etc. These are godlike things. However, your [notion of] god also contains so much that is non-sensical and un-god-like (some of which I have pointed out here).

Why do I care? Why do I come to this forum to point these things out? It is because I think that the same thought processes that allow you to accept the non-sensical without questioning it are the same thought processes that allow humans to rationalize very bad actions against one another. The islamic world has taken this to the extreme. When a human gets tot he point where they can rationalize blowing up others and subjugating women, and so on and on, there is something wrong.

Oh but you say this is America, nothing like that could ever happen here. I'm not so sure of that. Slavery was quite recent and quite rationalized by christians. We are currently killing tens of thousands of Arabs that had nothing to do with 9-11. Am I saying christianity is responsible for this? No, but the same fuzzy thinking is. I still know people who believe that the u.s. had credible evidence that iraq had wmd before we invaded. No matter how much proof they are shown they still have *faith* in gwb. Unbelievable.

Once again your issue is with God. You claim that justice is non-sensical and not like God. How do you know when you dont know Him. You want God to be all love and mercy, but He is a King and He has a government. With this government come Law, and with this law come judgement. Once again you want to have the citizenship but dont want to come under the Lordship. You disagree with the His justice. Friend, this is an issue directly with God. Have you tried telling Him that some of His traits dont fit into who you feel He should be. If not then you really dont want an answer.

Once again the issue is your failure to see that there is a god w/out the bible.

Peace

If I were standing in front of a person dying of thirst, holding out a glass of water to that person, but that person does not believe that I am there and does not see me because of their belief, how can that person take the glass of water?

The obvious, moral choice is to just give them the glass of water so they may live.

How is God wicked when it is plainly seen that man creates his own path to walk down? We make our own choices in life and need to accept the consequences. The old saying, "You made your bed, now lay in it" is so true. God did not create puppets, but gave people free will to choose what they want to be-do-believe ...

so I ask you again: then why do you keep asking God for his blessings?

If you choose to ignore the sign, because you believe that the sign maker is a lier and does not tell the truth, and then choose the left path, who is at fault? You or the sign maker?

I always check my gps before taking a turn

You say you want to learn ... then start listening. Discussion subjects with earplugs in your ears will do you no good.

I'm going to teach you math but you must start with the premise that 1+1=3. Ready: learn.

Peace

Your sarcasm only proves you ignorance on any matter concerning God. You have again ignored my questions and, instead, imparted your "moral" ideals. How common from those who do not want to admit that their pride has blinded them to the truth.

I will not continue word games with you and allow you to wallow in your darkness, but will give you these words to ponder:

Proverbs 6:16-19

These six things the LORD hates,

Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:

A proud look,

A lying tongue,

Hands that shed innocent blood,

A heart that devises wicked plans,

Feet that are swift in running to evil,

A false witness who speaks lies,

And one who sows discord among brethren.

You will do well if you accept Jesus as your savior instead of relying on your gps.

Hey there, I'm not sure if you're even reading responses anymore, but I'll take a shot.

I do not believe God directly blesses a nation. We are not more blessed in North America than they are in Africa. What makes America appear blessed, is that we built our country on a Christian base. So couldn't doesn't directly bless us, but instead he instructs us in the way to build a great society, and we built one by following those teachings.

God values freedom (He gave us free will) and so do our North American societies. That leads to a prosperous economy and wealth.

God values hard work and discipline, and our societies value that which leads to a strong economy as well. That is largely where our material blessings come from.

I recently saw Evan Almighty and what stuck out at me is basically what you just said. We ask God for patience, he gives us the OPPORTUNITY for patience. We ask, we receive. Not always the way we think we will. God isnt going to say your my child so you get a free ride. We have to build, build, build. The bible speaks frequently about how God detests laziness and not trying. No same thing as life with our own parents after 18 or sometimes before we go on our own. We have to support ourselves, but sometimes, if someone is lucky or blessed enough they will get a parent or someone else help them with their choices and successes.

To whom, and through whom?

to god obviously.

I notice you dont capitalize God... which means you must think your "god" as ordinary as everything else in this life.

It saddens me that you think this life is ordinary. I hope that outlook is not preventing you from experiencing as much as you can while you are here.

Peace,

freefromfaith

p.s. the small 'g' was really just tongue-in-cheek...I don't believe in god.

Well yah this is just ordinary in comparison to the eternity I will have awaiting me with God. Thats right, you dont recognize God therefore dont repsect him.... It saddens me where your eternity will be. I will pray for you.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
