This might seem like a strange question to you and if you think so do not bother with a response....ok... :P

If you think you understand what I am asking then by all means let me know what you believe the Lord has shown you personally what it is the labourer "does" and who it "is"..

Mat 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

Mat 9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

Mat 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

Mat 9:38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Some have taught that the labourers are teachers only..

who are these labourers and what exactly is their work...

I have read this and know it in my head and so I think God is saying to send out missionaries or preachers or folks like Dr. Dobson.....

And I do pray for God to send folks with a true understanding of salvation to people who have not heard and/or do not know Him..

That is about all I really have in my understanding about this..

We are all to be a witness of Him..

I have searched witness and know it is a reflection of the source..

We are to be a witness of God..

I do not think it is the same somehow, as a labourer...

But I have always felt in my heart that I am missing what the Lord is really saying in this particular scripture..

Any one understand my question? :)

Laborers are those who are fulfilling the great commission (namely disciples). The first of these laborers were commissioned by Jesus a few verses later

A labourer is a worker and if its harvesting we are talking about, then obviously its those who bring in the harvest...that includes everyone in the Body of Christ who works to bring in souls...whether it is praying, witnessing, preaching, visiting, caring, financing, administrating....helping... if the result is souls won for Jesus...you're a harvester!

What about the spacific qualifications ..

they do not seem to match up with what we call labourors today..

Ok..thanks..I do not "get it" as it just muddles in my brain...

Thanks anyhow...

I will keep asking and someday it will all make sense... :24:

Yes it will.. :24:

I do know we are to be a witness , that I understand...

Isnt it neat how the Lord can put something on your heart because it is that specific time in your spirtual growth that He is teaching you something new.

I have noticed this from time to time when I look at a passage and it either becomes clear to me or I just cant get it out of my mind. Its amazing all the other things I learn in the pursuit of understanding that passage,...sometimes the journey.....

Someone plants a seed, someone keeps the weeds down, someone picks the apple, someone sorts them, someone packages them, takes them to market ........ They're not all the same people, they are all labourers.

I dont believe all of us have to preach salvation, maybe mine or your calling is to preach love, or community, or the satisfaction of not getting uptight over materialism. Maybe one thing today and another tommorow

Maybe we are the ones that plant the seed of curiousity or water the seed of knowledge, (even just todays sprinkle).

As God leads me to understand a passage He also then leads me to my labour , and, I believe, day by day.

(Think about it, wow! you never know what to expect)

Being a labourer for God is very, very diverse. None of us knows how far reaching our actions are, but if we strive to do all things as close to the way Jesus would do it, love, compassion, listening ... we are His labourers.

Unkown numbers of people have turned to God and accepted Jesus because a Christian did a very simple, selfless thing for them, something that Christian, didnt even know was significant. Obviously though, they were known as Christians to those people.

We dont have to be a teacher or preacher to be effective in telling people about God, but we do have to strive to lead a good Christian life rooted in Gods word.

Check on the internet Sam Shoemakers', "An Apoligia for My Life" (I Stand By The Door) Its not very long, but it kind of makes me think about just how diverse Gods work force is.

I pray your journey to understanding what the Spirit will reveal to you is warm and exciting

I think Francis of Assissi said "preach the gospel and if that fails, use words"

Begs the question.. whats a preacher?, hm

Mat 10:9 Do not provide gold nor silver, nor copper in your purses,

Mat 10:10 nor a bag for the journey, nor two coats, nor sandals, nor staves. For the workman is worthy of his food.

Mat 10:11 And into whatever city or village you enter, inquire who within it is worthy. And there abide until you go away from there.

Mat 10:12 And when you come into a house, greet it.

Mat 10:13 And if the house is worthy, let your peace come on it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.

Mat 10:14 And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

These are the same "labourers" that He sent out before...

Luk 22:35 And He said to them, When I sent you without purse and wallet and sandals, did you lack anything? And they said, Nothing.

Luk 22:36 And He said to them, But now, he who has a purse, let him take it, and likewise his wallet. And he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.

Luk 22:37 For I say to you that this which is written must yet be accomplished in Me, "And he was reckoned among the transgressors"; for the things concerning Me have an end.

Luk 22:38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And He said to them, It is enough.

This scripture changes what the Lord is saying to them...

they are moving on to another charge by Him...

but they did not understand either..

How hard it must have been for Heaven to try to communicate with earth...

It is nice to know that the Holy Spirit is around to teach us all things...

Psa 27:8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

We just need to seek Him...

a labororer is one who works for self or for another in this biblical text we are God's labororers in this life. he has called us and saved us by his spirit and now we are the light of the world just as jesus was the light of the world but has now ascended up into heaven. He left disciples which are me and you among so many others here on this earth to carry on the work of jesus to make disciples of others we are able mininisters of the spirit of God to others who are in need around us. When we minister to those around us souls can come into the kingdom of God hence the harvest the laborerers will always be few that God is able to use in reaching souls for the kingdom of God. Scripture tells us of many reasons why people will not work in the fields of this world to bring in the harvest of souls for God. Mostly because of the personal cost and the persecutions that will come as a result of working for God. Mainly because the world is hard toward God and his message and will fight it I know i did prior to salvation but had it not been for the faithful laborerers who keep telling the old old story and preaching the cross i shudder to think of my state to day. blessings in christ jesus our lord and saviour

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
