Reminders Definitions: Deity

The word ‘Deity’ is not found in the Bible, but its meaning is Biblical, ‘the nature and manifestation of God.’ So, when we examine the essence of Jesus, we will uncover a multitude of both Old and New Testament verses which confirm that Jesus is the human manifestation of Jehovah God. John 14:8-9 It is important for Christians to understand and believe this truth. One of the distinctives of a cult is their denial of the deity of Jesus. The Jehovah Witness Watchtower Society teaches that He was created by God as Michael the Archangel and is the spirit brother of Lucifer. The LDS/Mormon organization teaches that Jesus is not equal to God, but rather is a lesser god and was created by a sexual union between Jehovah and His heavenly wife. These two cult teachings are religious fabrications and have no basis in the Holy Bible. The Bible overwhelmingly affirms that Jesus is Jehovah God manifest in the flesh, and all Christians place their faith in this mysterious truth. 1 Timothy 3:16

Why is it important to know and believe that Jesus is God? Jesus’ own words in John 7:38 give us a clue, He who believes in Me as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. He is saying that the evidences of salvation will flow from the hearts of those who believe what the Scriptures say about Jesus. Many people believe in a Jesus, but they do not believe in the Jesus as presented by the Scriptures. Jesus is often referred to as “the Lord Jesus.” The term ‘Lord’ meaning supreme being or creator God. Thus, we are told multiple times in Scripture that to be saved you must “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” and “to confess Jesus as Lord.” Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9 But this fact must be received by the revealed truth of the Holy Spirit by faith. 1 Corinthians 12:3 Many Jews of Jesus’ day accused Him of blasphemy because He said things like this to them, I and my Father are one. John 10:30 and Before Abraham was, I AM. John 8:58 He did not say, ‘Before Abraham was, I was.’ He said, Before Abraham was, I AM. They fully understood that Jesus was declaring Himself to be the Eternal God, just as He called Himself “I AM that I AM” when speaking to Moses at the burning bush. Exodus 3:1-15 There was never a time when the Word had a beginning or did not exist as God. “In the beginning was the Word. And the Word was with God and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.” John 1:1, :14 We must believe in Him as the Scripture presents Him, not as just some sort of spirit being, neither as just being a holy man.

Final Thoughts: Believing that Jesus is Almighty God is essential to being a Christian. But it is a belief that sometimes challenges human comprehension. A key verse and foundation of the Old Testament is one that Jesus quoted from Deuteronomy 6:4, Hear, O Israel; The LORD our God is one LORD. Mark 12:29 We know and believe that there is only one God, not three. But our singular God, is manifested in three forms and roles as declared in 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” 1 John 5:7-12 Scripture teaches that Jesus is Almighty God and to deny it is to make God a liar. But we are not expected to fully understand it, only to believe it. For further study, I have compiled a partial list of verses throughout the Bible that affirm that Jesus is indeed Jehovah God. We don't have the same understanding of the words translated God as did the people in the days of Moses, and when Jesus walked this earth.

This explanation is not supported scripturally.  By reading the Gospels carefully, you will be reacquainted with many, many statements made by Christ that is contrary to him being Jehovah God.  For a start, examine Colossians 1:15 and Philippians 2:6.

Philippians 2:6-11 KJV

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

[7] But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

[8] And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

[9] Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

[10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

[11] And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

( Please compare with):

Isaiah 45:22-24 KJV

Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

[23] I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

[24] Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.

I hope your doctrine isn't wrapped up in a few explainable verses.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
