I read a lot and some of that includes history. Some of my favorite historical reading is WW2 and the Jews

being saved from the Nazi's. Have you read the book or seen the movie "Schindler's List?". It is a true story

and Oskar Schindler saved 1,200 Jews from being exterminated.

@missmuffet It's interesting how the US-Upper/Lower Canada border in the 1850s morphed into developments in the 1860s.

In the 1850s, the US authorities (or strictly slave catchers whom the authorities were powerless to stop) went after fleeing black people because of the Fugitive Slave Act, while welcomed in Upper/Lower Canada.

In the 1860s, during the Civil War, Confederates based in Canada raided areas such as northern Vermont, with the US authorities greatly annoyed with the British for apparently allowing the Confederates free rein to do so. Maybe The president elect now that he is elected could move to a position like the one he did on abortion; not for it not against it let the States each decide it will be beautiful.

Or fund the vetting process! So that does not take six months or more to get a "green card" Might even learn how to help the city of Portland Maine, and the State  of Maine, fund and process of legalizing  their needed workforce.

Private businesses at Portland Me. now fund it  plus the State has starting kicking in money too. Because having workers is saving their local economy!

Businesses are cutting open hours some are closing for lack of willing workers. When I visit many small towns I see help wanted at most every business. Plus I see reduced business hours and signs that say open only  on Tuesday Friday and Saturday. All for lack of a workforce.

But no let's fix bayonets and round up a willing workforce of them foreigners, put em in "camps", and then ship em out. Final solution done quick and easy. NO! Does America really have no heart? Does America first mean and only for those that look and speak like me?

How can any of us visit a holocaust museum, see the  images of a horror like that image below and still say  "Round them up, ship them off", thinking tough luck what happens to them  wherever they get dumped. All the while passing out Tracts on Tuesday evenings of the "Roman Road"  thinking, how Christian I am.

I believe the priority will be to round up all those who've already been ordered by a court to be deported back, but haven't, then all those that committed a crime in the US but remain at-large, along with those that have a criminal history from their country of origin, and lastly those that overstayed visas. 

I just don't believe, nor can I envision, the US doing anything similar to what Germany did in the holocaust, or what the US did with America-Japanese internment.

I think there needs to be common sense and compassion.  Can we realistically ship 20 million people out of the country?  No.  Should sanctuary cities shelter rapists and murderers? No. How about we completely secure the border.  Use military action against any coyotes or cartel members on both sides of the border to stop the drugs, illegal immigration and human trafficking.  Once that's done, get rid of anyone who is a known criminal or has committed a crime since they came here.  After that, I don't think it makes much sense to try ship the rest back.  Give them a path to citizenship if they work, pay taxes and obey the laws.  You also need to completely squash hiring illegals and paying them slave wages under the table.  This will incentivize people to come forward and work legitimate jobs.  America first does mean "Only those who look and speak like me".  It means you learn English, assimilate to our laws any ways of society.  As far as looking like me, what does that mean?  We are the biggest melting pot of any country in the world.  Trump got record numbers of black and Latino voters.  I'm so sick of people accusing Republican of being racist.  Especially when the Democrat side is openly racist and antisemitic.  I don't know how many times I see people openly stating how much they hate white people.  Then you have white liberals assuming black people are too stupid to get an ID, but we are the racists?

Up here, with French Canada acknowledged as a distinct society, it's the English-speaking immigrants in Quebec that cause resentment when they insist on speaking English a lot and not learning French.

The US has said that bringing in some of these immigrants is costing them a lot

of money. Maybe they should prioritize where their money should be spent to

maybe help some people in need.
