Would be nice. Wasn't the case in Boston in the 1950's.It was a war zone. Wasn't the case in California in the 1960's 70s and 80's. Sure hasn't been  the case in Florida in the 1990's through to today.

California especially doesn't melt, it demands all languages be equal and that all contracts be presented in all languages that a presentation  is presented in, plus no less than 17 languages are used in the schools. That is anything but a melding or melting.

There is also the moral crisis in North American cities whereby the lust for illegal drugs - and the simple law of supply and demand - creates drug barons in Latin America who make fabulous profits.

Up here where in Quebec many immigrants do speak English, it's those who do speak English that are given a hard time if they decline to learn French...

The only part of Canada I have been to is Vancouver BC. It was beautiful but

expensive. That was a long time ago.

Canada is so diverse.

The leader of Mexico's largest labor union had to go live in Vancouver because of death threats. NAFTA was supposed to help strengthen Mexico's labor laws; but it turned out to be more of a one way street for huge corporations wanting cheap labor.

Those who like to claim 'it's all the fault of those Mexicans' would do well to consider instead that it was Mexico's northern partners in NAFTA who helped set up the one way street, without insisting on making sure the labor laws were actually strengthened in MExico.
