We are given many verses of scripture that confirm the “timing of events” by many “signs” that shall also confirm the END point in time, of the “times of the Gentiles”.  This “symbolic” time period of 1,260 days STARTED with the destruction of the Temple in 70 ad. and would finally come to an END with the “signs” that Jesus said would take place AFTER the tribulation of “those days”; this “tribulation” was prophesied to be “FIRST to the Jews”. (Romans 2:9)

So lets go to the words of Jesus to confirm the many “signs” that would mark the END of the FIRST tribulation to the JEWS, and would also mark the END of “the times of the Gentiles.”

In Luke 21: 24-28 24 And they(the saints/Jews) shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, UNTIL the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. (Notice the “signs” that follow)

25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”

Now to confirm the “signs” in Matthew 24:29-31 29 Immediately AFTER the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

Now to Mark 13:24-27 24 But in those days, AFTER that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, 25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. 26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. 27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.”

These “signs” in the heaven are also shown in the 6th seal events in Revelation 6:12-17 12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.(powers of heaven are shaken) 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: (Notice next verse declares the BEGIN point of God’s wrath on the whole world)

17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Also we are told in scripture that WHEN the “fullness of the Gentiles comes in” There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and ungodliness shall be removed from Jacob (Romans 11:25-27) This covenant Paul speaks of is the covenant that God promised to make with Israel and with Judah AFTER the tribulation of “those days”. (Jer. 31:33)

This “sign” of God removing ungodliness from Jacob and making a new covenant with the house of Israel is also shown in Zechariah 12:10. 10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.”

 This prophecy is confirmed here in Revelation 1:7 7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

 All the tribes of Israel wailing and mourning is also shown here in Matthew 24:30 30 And THEN shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory”.

The timing of this event is also confirmed again in Mark 13:24-26 24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

26 And THEN shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.”

So all the scriptures agree with the timing of events and the “signs” that shall “mark” the END of the FIRST tribulation to the Jews and the “fullness of the Gentiles” But this event also marks the START point of God’s wrath being poured out on the Nations that afflicted God’s people as shown in Isaiah 51:22-23.

The gathering of the Nations against Israel, and the signs in the heavens, with the powers of heaven being “shaken”is confirmed in many places in scripture.

Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.
For thus saith the Lord of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

The question came up in another thread about the Lord defending Israel after the times of the Gentiles is fulfilled.  And I say YES!  Let me post some scripture about this event…

Zechariah 12

King James Version

12 The burden of the word of the Lord ((for Israel,))saith the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.

2 Behold, I will make ((Jerusalem))a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both ((against Judah and against Jerusalem.))

3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be ((cut in pieces,)) though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

4 In that day, saith the Lord, I will ((smite))every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will ((smite))every horse of the people with blindness.

5 And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the Lord of hosts their God.

6 In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and ((they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left:))and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem.

7 The Lord also shall ((save))the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah.

8 In that day shall ((the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem;)) and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; ((and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them.))

9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that ((I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.))

10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, ((the spirit of grace and of supplications:))and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

(Note the reason they are “mourning”is because Christ has finally revealed Himself to Israel at this time)

11 In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.

12 And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart;

13 The family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart;

14 All the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.

Joel 3

King James Version

3 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of ((Judah and Jerusalem,))

2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there ((for my people and for my heritage Israel,)) whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

3 And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.

4 Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head;

5 Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things:

6 The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border.

7 Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompence upon your own head:

8 And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the Lord hath spoken it.

9 Proclaim ye this ((among the Gentiles;))Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:

10 Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

11 Assemble yourselves, and come, ((all ye heathen,)) and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause “thy mighty ones” to come down, O Lord. ( the mighty ones are the angels)

12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit ((to judge all the heathen round about.))

13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great.

14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.

15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.(6th seal signs)

16 The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, (Deliverer shall roar out of Sion) and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people, and ((the strength of the children of Israel.))

17 So shall ye know that I am the Lord your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: ((then shall Jerusalem be holy,))and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.

18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth out of the house of the Lord, and shall water the valley of Shittim.

19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

20 ((But Judah shall dwell for ever,))and Jerusalem from generation to generation.

21 For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the Lord dwelleth in Zion.”

Joel 2:1-11

King James Version

2 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lordcometh, for it is nigh at hand;

2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.

3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.

4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.

5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.

7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:

8 Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.

9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.

10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:

11 And the Lord shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the Lordis great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

The sign is the wise virgins taken to the Feast and the foolish virgins left behind and scream in the great tribulation.
