The authorities have to first be aware of the people to whom the red flag law applies. Most of the time they are not informed by mental health providers or the courts.

But the arrest for domestic violence wouldn't fall into that category, nor would the threat to attack that military installation,  those can't be passed off as just being unaware to the authorities since the authorities were involved in them.  And this is just preliminary reporting, I imagine much more will be known about him as the story develops (unless if just gets buried, the way the Covenant school shooters manifesto has been for whatever it was that they want to keep secret.

There is no excuse for this type of thing, everyone that does something like this has given clear indications that they were dangerous in advance.

Chicago has long proven that gun laws do absolutely no good. Fun fact, the vast majority of gun murders in the US are by handguns, not AR style rifles. And most of them, are in cities like Chicago. Where they're largely illegal.

And most of them are gang violence.

I remember as a kid some guy lost it and Held all of Washington DC hostage with a bolt action rifle.

Fact is, your chances of being shot up in a school with a AR are slim. Banning them, won't do any good. A lot of your mass shooters obtain their guns illegally as it is, adding more rules won't make them suddenly start to change the rules.

Even if you did somehow prevent them from obtaining that weapon they would just use something else.

America has a mental health problem, not a gun problem.

The AR's may not contribute to most gun-related incidents (of course hand guns are more prevalent), but they appear to be the domain of the mass shootings, at least in the last major incidents. Mass shootings are rarely involved with criminals but at the more general public that the perpetrator has some beef with. Arguing that taking away a weapon (or class of weapon) that has the ability to fire multiple rounds very quickly with accuracy and velocity would not result in lessening the impact of these events is questionable logic.

(FWIW, Maine has a "red flag" law.)

Actually, Maine has a "yellow flag" law.  There is a lot of information about what it means and when it came into effect.

You can put any firearm, pistol or long gun. on a table and watch it until the day you die, and it will not hurt you.  Put it in the hands of someone with mental issues and you may be hurt or even killed.  It's not the weapon, but the one using it.

Correction, if a person is willing to commit mass murder they are by definition a criminal.

And taking the weapon away, even if possible won't actually stop them...it will just force them to not use that weapon.

Timothy McVeigh used fertilizer.

Because taking away the weapon doesn't take away the problem.

No one likes to talk about it but what do you think is the (immediate) main cause of the problem, and what would most likely work to take away the major cause of it?

The problem? We took the Bible, and morality out of schools. Which started a Domino effect. Kids are taught from a early age there are no Godly morals, and no respect for life, or each other, or even themselves.

They arnt taught that life is hard, or to stick up for themselves, or even what true love is. They grow up feeling entitled to whatever they want, and are indoctrinated into that way of thinking.

Nothing really is done about bullying, in fact it's encouraged.

They have kids who are so confused that they think they're different genders, they go to school. And then they're bullied, often by people who bully regardless, but then conservative students who realize how ridiculous the transgenderism is, join in on the bullying.

Then when the school cracks down on the bullying by in essence bullying the bullies back, they just double down on the weaker students.

And that system isn't just limited to the transgender... people bully. And kids arnt taught to stand up for themselves but rather look to the governing body, (the school) which only makes things worse.

So naturally people crack sooner or later. Some turn to drugs. Many commit suicide. A few find a gun and shoot up the place. The common denominator is they're not mentally stable, because they're being indoctrinated in a broken system without Godly morals.

We had the same accessibility to the same weapons 50 years ago with that access being far easier, so why didn't we have the same problems then as now?  The problem is not the weapons and will not go away with more restrictions and regulations put on them since the cause of problem itself is not being addressed by any laws anywhere, mostly not even talked about.

But, I doubt a solution is what is really being -or wanted- intended by those in authority.

Actually, that wasn't the case. AR-15s didn't become widely accessible until 2010, so it's been a little over 10 years. Before that time, they weren't accessible to most from 1994-2004 because of the Federal Assault Weapons ban.

It's like the models of M-16 I was issued in the Army (the A1 and the A2). Colt's patent expired in 1977, so they lost exclusive manufacturing rights to the "civilian" version of the military assault rifle.

Came home around 10:30 EST to discover the Maine shooter, Robert Card, is dead.  News say it was an apparent suicide.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
