@missmuffet Do you find that the moderation customs can vary considerably?

I've not been on any other forums for a while but I did a stint on CARM (Christian Apologetics Research Ministries) which is owned by Matt Slick, who has some good material archived.

There are some good sorts and some real hardline characters on CARM but from my perspective the vibe is not conducive to what I call WORTHWHILE FELLOWSHIP.

I agree about CARM.  Matt does have some good stuff archived.  I lurked a lot.  But when I tried to register, I couldn't log on.  Oh, well.

I am on a hiatus from the BaptistBoard where I am a moderator and pretty much the only gal.  You can imagine that gets frustrating sometimes especially when there are some ultra-conservative men there.  They are great guys and I've been off seen February and will probably go back after Easter.  I've been there since 2002 and a moderator since 2020.

I've tried a couple of others, but found too much challenging of the truth to suit my sensibilities.

Yes, they vary quite much.

Moderation is at the discretion of the owner.

I was a moderator at bibleforums.org [that is now defunct].  It was a large site and there were about 8 moderators. It had one owner who could give people access to delete, edit,  or warn at will.  No one ever abused that. The owner became deathly ill and about that time the site became overrun with porn sites from porn bots. It was horrid.

We spent hours every day deleting them to no avail.  We tried to contact the owner's son who promised he would do something about it.

We begged him to install an app where new members could NOT post until they had been OKed by the whole mod team.

He never responded and the site went defunct.

At the BaptistBoard, from where I am on a hiatus, there are a handful of mods and we usually don't warn, edit, or delete until we have discussed it.  Unless it's something like outright profanity or a troll who is blaspheming.

But as I said, it's up to the owner as to how moderation works.

Hi @Jayne...I have seen BaptistBoard and there is some good material there at times; there are also some folk there who really make it known that they don't like tattoos.....

Yes, I have had  long time, what should I call it - relationship/interest/ association  with Zola Levitt Ministries. As part of that I have been on the message board there for a long long time. It is now more frequently referred to as "Our Jewish Roots".  I use Mending Wall as a handle when there, referencing the context of Robert Frost's poem of the same name/title.

God used that message board to bring my present bride and myself together after I lost my first wife of some 46 years. MY present wife was a Zolaboard member and she had toured Israel with Zola and his group. My first wife of my youth and I both loved that ministry, she even went antiquing with Sandra Levitt  while Zola golfed with us when he was speaking at our local church body and their our Christian school at it's Jerusalem market celebration - an annual event.

I still absolutely love that ministry, though it too has evolved some, a rather natural consequence I suppose, after the death of my friend and teacher Zola. He was almost everyone's friend as he had such an inviting personality it would just capture people as he shared of the awesome God we serve, doing so in the name of Yeshua.

That board, like I suppose this one, has it's ups and downs over time, but the really grand thing is one can learn how to have fellowship as well as share of Jesus, have fellowship as well as learn of God's plan for us, and have fellowship as we each rejoice in the Lord and savior Yeshua practicing it all on these boards. It can be done. It is done.

Yes, the world will send in it's own to deride and create whatever chaos it might, but that only gives us opportunity to demonstrate the gospel, as it also gets used to strengthen those that will stick it out and return  slights with kindness in the name of Jesus while loving  God, as we also share love of each other, saints in the army of Jesus.

Love God - Love one another

p.s. I tend to use Yeshua and Jesus  interchangeably (not as two separate entities). My fingers just type it out that way, as I go along.

I tried a few I did not like them like I like worthy I use to belong to jesusloveforum. It was for members of the world wide church of God. Which I use to belong to. It was really good like worthy. It was after the change so doctrine was good. But it's gone now. Worthy is so active. I notice a lot of forums are kind of dead. I use to belong to the Walter Martin message board that was good but now it's not running. And it died down for a long time.

WW Church of God to Walter Martin, wow, he included a chapter on that group in his classic Kingdom of the Cults.

I'm a semi-mod over at Chrisianforumsite. Their emphasis is on 'peace amongst the brethren'.

@Jayne,

Yes, I'm sure they mean well at BaptistBoards, but what then would they make of reports such as this from the Bible Belt?

Around here (Bible Belt), it is common, especially among evangelical Christians, for the girls under about 40 to have religious tattoos. More do than don't, especially when you get to the under 30 crowd. I hardly know any female at church that is under 30 that does not have a tattoo.

One Christian Forum I visited had a rule that no-one was allowed to mention other forums. I guess they were concerned their members might drift away.

I really enjoy being on WORTHY CHRISTIAN FORUMS so thanks to all who accommodate my input.

One of them even tries to stop ppl talking about God in Three Persons: this just takes the heart out of the doctrine of the Bible.......................

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
