Depends on what year the Church began when Peter preached his sermon in the upper room on the day of Pentecost. I think 2029 could be the 2,000 year anniversary of the church. Or is it a birthday? Either way, we should buy a cake and celebrate.

Proverbs 24:33 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, 34 and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and need like a bandit.

I love cake...

Years ago, while I was a Catholic. I got the idea that I should question if God exists or not. But I was afraid I could get in trouble with God if I did that. So, I asked His permission, then dismissed myself from God so I could evaluate if He exists.

Very soon, I started to question if >I< existed! And I got stuck on that for some time.

Now I maybe see the connection: if there is question that God exists, then certainly there is question that I exist.

How many here were once atheist and came to the Lord? If so, what caused you to change?

I answered this earlier, but it was probably unseen, as it was hidden as unfinished previously:

Nothing does not exist. There is no such thing as nothing. So the current theory based on a movie (Matrix) is if we do not exist, then we must be a computer generated simulation. So the simulator would have to exist to create us. Perhaps by the same logic, God would have to exist to create us.

I'm glad you brought this up because it was indeed, not showing up earlier. Either that or I missed it.

@Omegaman 3.0 I appreciate your input.

I will say this as a person who can't claim biology science as my area of expertise. The other areas I am involved with are not biological, and to be fair I doubt most people have this as their line of training or study, yes, it's a basic thing for anyone entering the medical field to get  into it and there are of course, other areas that delve deeper into these things at a level deeper than most. Most of us have been exposed to a basic understanding of science in higher grades and college, even if it was just a required course to graduate.

To a very large degree I think this often works in the favor of those with theories that few understand the basis for. It would be like me selling a 'load of bull' to someone about how their smart phone works. They might nod with a deer-in-the headlights look on their face as if they understand or agree, but really they don't have a clue what the person is really talking about. THIS is what I think modern science is capitalizing on, THIS is what they hope for, because empty uninformed minds can be filled with all kinds of gobbledy gook that passes for science.

We like to think those in any given field of study who give their lives to learn it should at least have a far better grasp on it than the rest of us.

In the case of modern biology this would not be true. They have hunches and guesses and theories. One thing we can't do when they talk about a lot of this is trust them without facts. They  lean on theories which are proven to be false only a few years later.

What impressed me about your testimony, was that, there you were collecting specimens of God's creation at a young age and never questioned the amazing detail and complexity. Or maybe you did, but those things they told you sufficed, which would seem counter productive to me for any thinking person. Not in any way making a negative statement here about you or anyone else in the same position that you were in, just wondering why we humans tend to trust and accept what we are told by those we think we can trust and how this seems to override any inclination to sometimes scratch our heads and rethink what we were told.

I guess this is easier to understand at younger ages. We trust those over us and if it's on Wikipedia, or in a text book at our school, we just memorize the answers for the test.

The true absurdity of this should be even more apparent when we are supposed to believe there are over 100 genders and maybe our plumbing doesn't reflect what we are.

That God 'opens up' to those who truly seek Him seems to be what changed it for you.

I have also had conversations with athiests and the conversation is shallow. Such as the weather, how are you? or something pertaining to our world today. Some people have even stopped talking to me or ignored me once they find out I am a Christian.

Those some people may feel that Christians have nothing else to talk about except themselves and their relationship with the invisible (God, Jesus, angels...etc.)

That and maybe the fact that man is mortal in comparison.

You and I are neither God nor the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (1 Timothy 6:13-16)

They see something in us that repels them.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
