We need to show them the truth "And blessed is he, whoever shall not be offended in Jesus" (Mat 11:6).

And how do you do that?

Be practical, how would you show a homosexual neighbour the truth of the gospel.

Please don't quote pious platitudes, but say how you would befriend them and earn the right to talk seriously about Jesus.

You don't have to "earn the right" to talk to anyone seriously about Jesus!  The Lord has already given us that right.

Have you ever watched any "Way of the Master" episodes, with Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron?

Have you talked to homosexuals about Jesus?

How did they respond to what you said?

Many are very hostile to what they see as Christianity, some have been deeply hurt by Christians evangelising them or trying to make them ' normal '.

When someone has a problem with their understanding of Christianity then one has to earn the right to talk to them about it.

We need to say the truth, even if, at the moment, the person feels offends. In the end, if the person really is savant and love the truth, it will be fulfilled what is said below:

  • "He who rebukes a man shall afterwards find more favor than he who flatters with the tongue." (Pro 28:23).

After all,:

  • " Now chastening for the present does not seem to be joyous, but grievous. Nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who are exercised by it." (Heb 12:11)

It is not in vain that Jesus called only all who are tired and are heavy laden (Mat 11:28). While the sinner is satisfied with their miserable life, their never will welcome the gospel

To my knowledge, I have only spoken to one homosexual about Jesus.  He had been a professing Christian, but left the church, when he reverted to his old ways.

Many unbelievers are offended by the gospel, which is what Jesus told us would happen.  They are hostile towards God and love their sin.  This sin is no exception.

The right to tell people about the law they've broken and the gospel message, comes from the Lord.  Unbelievers can refuse to listen, but they cannot give us a right that we already have.

So your neighbour is living with a woman, they are not married.

You would on learning they are not married would knock on their door and rebuke them for living in sin, exhort them to separate, live apart untill they are married.

Is that what you would do?

How would your neighbour react?

Do you really soft anyone in your area to have any respect for you or be willing to listen to you after such a disrespectful act?

Jesus was called, with good reason, the friend of prostitutes, drunks, traitors, all those labelled by the ' good ' as sinners.

How are you a friend to sinners?

Yes offended by the gospel, not by the arrogant slagging off of people.

Our example is Jesus he was always approachable. The only time you heard him using harsh words is too those who are so self righteous that they believed they had no need of a saviour.

Look at how Jesus dealt with sinners who came to him and that is the point, they came to him.

How many sinners would come to church today?

How welcoming are we to the unusual, the odd person who isn't nicely dressed.

Just because we have a right does not mean we ram it down someone throat.

Remember that verse about God not putting out the smouldering flax?

Is that what our preaching is doing?

As far as unbelievers coming to church is concerned, church meetings are not for unbelievers!  They are for Christians.

Church meetings are not for evangelism, they are for worshipping the Lord, teaching/preaching the Bible and building up the people of God.

An unbeliever might come into a service, and what we say and do should be led by the Holy Spirit and in accord with God's word, so that we give a good witness; but evangelism is for going out amongst the world, not for when we gather together as a congregation.

We should welcome people, not based on how they are dressed, that is certain.  Not so well dressed people should be welcomed just the same as well dressed ones.

A bruised reed or a smouldering flax is a damaged or weak believer, not an unbeliever, who is currently dead in trespasses and sins.

Hmm ... I said nothing about ramming anything down anyone's throat!
