Is it right to make people take classes before baptizing them?

First I’d like to thank you all so much for responding.

This makes me sad, because I know for a fact man has nothing to do with my relationship with God.

I truly see it all as spiritual with us who have the spirit being a spiritual family welcoming others in knowing who sent them.

It seemed in the Bible it was more of a come one come all type of situation.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

We should only ever be baptized once, as Christ gave His life for us on that cross that one time.

So how sad it would be, to not FULLY understand what you were actually doing.

But as always we can't say it better than God

Matthew 28:16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

Matthew 28:17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth.

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit

Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

@DeighAnn I understand I just know it didn’t happen by man for me because I wasn’t turn away because I didn’t take classes. I just know I’m not the only one who can have a successful relationship with Jesus without classes. I also just know we can’t control how people live or what they believe so how they carry on with life after class is not on us.

I am not saying classes are wrong but I a don’t like the mandatory idea because then you’d be turning someone away. I do believe that a person would be happy to take the class but the problem is it’s more than one class and not knowing the future I’m sure some did not complete the courses and were still left not baptized.

When John was baptizing people it looks like he was baptizing anyone who came.

ON the other hand, IF someone wanted to be baptized and was refused and then was driving home got in an accident and died, I think I might want to die to.  Just saying that too many people are being lulled into a false sense of security.

ON the other hand,

You know I was thinking that yesterday but didn’t want to say anything because I figured someone would say something like God knew that was going to happen and it his will. In that area it’s just to difficult for me or above my pay grade to speak on really. I guess I should just be thankful there are churches who will baptize non members and people who have not taken their classes because it happened with me and I know of that church I spoke of in my original post, so I will assume there are more I don’t know about.

Just remember that 'rent veil'.  We don't need to go through a priest to talk to God and He sent US  out to teach and baptize.  So any Christian can baptize another Christian, after all it is really just between God and the one being baptized anyhow.

I have only seen one church that offers baptism after every service wether you are a member or not. Many churches won’t baptize just because you ask but require you to take classes first. Is this biblical? I just wonder why so many churches do it. After service is over they always ask is there anybody not saved that would like to give their life to Christ, but they never mention when people can be baptized, or what their baptism schedule is since a lot of churches don’t have their own pool. I am already a member of a church, but had thought about leaving to join the church that baptizes people after every service wether they are a member or not. Thoughts?

I don't see why it is necessary to give a person classes before baptism. Did John the Baptist give his followers classses before he baptised them?

I think they need to go get a college degree.

I knew a friend once who truly wanted real salvation and know God. I visited him in a temporary  medical facility because he had merI ca. and could not walk. While talking I asked him if he ever got baptized. He said yes as a child as a Catholic.   then explained biblical  baptism. I could have fallen of my chair when he told me he want to be baptized that very moment.. I had never baptized anyone before, and neither could he get out of bed. I had to do the only thing I could. I got a glass of water and sprinkled in the Name The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.  I found out latter this was not a chance happening. Doug died a week latter from the merca. Even now  I have tears in my eye's.

Juthis was not a cjn 13, 2016 · The truth is, your struggle against sin is a huge clue that the Spirit of God is working in your life. Because the New Testament constantly gives instruction to Christians struggling with sin, we understand that it is a normal experience.. Scripture speaks not only to the temptations this world offers but it also reminds us of our ongoing vulnerability to those temptations (2 Corinthians 6:14).

At least he knew enough to ask you. I just learned here that you don’t have to be a pastor to baptize. Amen

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
