When we love the Lord, we have a prayer deep within us that cries "make my desires, Your desires, Lord". It is not of God to cherish desires that are in conflict with His desires. So we pray,

Psalm 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

I don't know what more we can ask than for ANYONE, regardless of their particular temptations, to repent of their sins, and to pray for their desires and actions and beliefs to come in line with His.

There is no "orientation". God who is good, who created man/woman, did not create anything bad. Sin entered through Adam and now man who no longer wants responsibility for the "choices" he makes calls it "orientation" - sin. Man when born is not created to be a homosexual - it is a choice that one makes and as a choice must answer to Almighty God for that choice. It is sin unless he repents and asks for forgiveness and turns from that sin will enter eternity separated from the God of love. Try and paint it anyway one wants but sin is sin and it leads to separation from God who hates it.

Your premise IS that they are repentant, when nothing in the article indicates they are.  So yes, it is your premise. They don't see being gay as a sin.  They see it as a "orientation" they are born with.   They are not repentant for being gay.  How can they repent of something they don't see as a sin??

What really surprise me is that you, of all people, would cave in to the liberal notion that one can be gay and be a Christian.   I would not have guessed that you could be into such unbiblical notions like that.

I think you misunderstand me, Shiloh.  I haven't caved to anything and I don't buy into liberal, unbiblical ideas at all.  I'm saying we don't know if they have repented or how God sees them.  Homosexuality is a sin, this I believe.  Remaining celibate and avoiding acting on unnatural desires is an area that most of us are unfamiliar with.

I am not misunderstanding anything at all.   You claimed that they are repentant earlier in the thread.  For example, you said:

We know that God forbids homosexuality. I believe He would show mercy for those with that desire if they choose to not act upon it though. In the end, we will know for sure but for right now I think we should pray these people stay repentant and follow God.

We can know exactly how God sees them, His word is clear on the matter and they are NOT Christians.   They are not avoiding unnatural desires at all.  They don't see the deisres as sinful and they are NOT following God.  They divorce the desire from the action motivated by it.  They are only trying to be celibate. to avoid the physical act.  But since they are not Christians (due to their refusal to repent of homosexuality) their act of ceibacy is basically a useless and futile practice.

How do you know they have not repented and asked God to deliver them?  I understand your point here, Shiloh, but making it assumes a lot that none of US can be sure of.  I think a lot of these people want to be good Christians but ridding themselves of the desire for the same sex requires throwing themselves on His mercy.

They have not repented because they don't see homosexuality as a sin.  They, like others view it as an orientation.  If it is an orientation, then they can't help being gay any more than an African American help being black.   So, from their vantage point it is something they are born with and thus not a sin. Ergo they are not repentant of it.

If they wanted to be Christians, they would be willing to accept God's assessment of their sin and repent of it.  Wanting to be a "good Christian" doesn't equate with being a genuine follower of Jesus.  There is form of Chrsitianity that doesn't have Christ in it. and there are many "good Christians" who wear the title, but have never truly given their hearts to Jesus.  They have religion, but they have no part in Christ.

And mine. Lets not slip into implying that homosexual sin is worse than the ones we ourselves commit!

The thing is they cannot leave the choice they make on their own - they will return to it. It is only with the might and strength of Jesus and that only comes with repentance that they can leave it and never return - just like an alcoholic or drug addict. All is possible with God cleansed and no attraction if the life is given to God. God is more powerful than the attraction.

First one much ask Jesus to forgive and take the desire from them and give them the strength to turn away from their thoughts and desires. On their own they can do nothing Satan has them in his clutch and only Jesus can free them from him.

No one is doing that and you know it.  It has been made abundantly clear to you that we are acting like homosexuals are worse sinners than any other kind of sinner.  We are not claiming that homosexuality is worse than any other sin.   You keep returning to that same old canard when you don't have anything meaningful to contribute to the discussion.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
