When God moves, it does not take days. How long did it take for the Red Sea to part and dry land to appear before the Hebrews walk across?

how long did it take the Israelites to get to the promised land

Exodus 3:17

and I have said I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey.”’

The time was according to mans ability of how they travel. How long did it take Phillip to move from where he baptized the Ethiopia eunuch?

Acts 8:38-40

So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing. But Philip was found at Azotus. And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea.

I'm not sure what Philips being translated to a different area has to do with how fast a prophecy is fulfilled, If the prophecy is for the euphrates river to be dried up, and over time its dried up, who's to say its not a fulfiment of prophecy, as if to say it will only be a true fulfilment of God's prophecy if its a raging river one day and the next day its bone dry

just as I mentioned God told the Israelites He would bring them into the land He promised, well if He didn't translate the whole nation into the land of Canaan and at the same time remove the canaanites, Is God in error of not fulfiiling His own prophecy, since He didn't do it in one fell swoop

as He allowed them to slowly overcome the nations in the land, fighting all the way, and finally aquiring the land He promised, that is how God fulfilled His promise

slow or fast is not a variable in whether God is behind it

Think of it this way. God is doing all the work when scripture speaks of the Euphrates river being dried up. Man has nothing to do with it and is not involved, so there are no restrictions from humans. Using the examples we had started with, man had to walk to through the desert, learning as they went. Phillip did not. He was fully in His will without man being involved.

I would have to disagree, we see all through the bible God using other people groups to fulfil His prophetic word, certianly God was behind it all, but to simply say the river must be "supernaturally dried up" is not found in the text

God is not using man, and that is my point. He is commanding His angle to pour His wrath our on the river. It will dry up supernaturally.

I will be taking a course this Fall on Revelation and Apocalyptic texts for one of my degrees. Certain figures within the book of Revelation, I would like to gather some insight from from those of you here discussing such prophecy.

There are beasts as well as horsemen mentioned in the book of Revelation.

Are the beasts truly nations that are recognizable? Or could they represent something else?

Also are the horsemen much like the plagues in which God unleashed upon Egypt in the Old Testament? Or are they something else?

Please refer to scripture in your explanation so that way perhaps I might compare it to the written word and perhaps find some enlightenment myself.

I am sorry for inquiring of such things, but with the talk of the Euphrates amongst other things, it made me consider parts of Revelation such as the seals, horsemen, and beasts.

Three articles and other events happening now

I have a comment regarding this:

Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."

And what is money except the means by which we can be deceived into believing the lie that we provide for ourselves, supply our own needs and wants -- negating the need for "God". Thus, the love of money is a root of all evil in this world (1 Tim. 6:10)

Therefore, "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them." (1 John 2:15)

So Ahab sent word throughout all Israel and assembled the prophets on Mount Carmel. Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” (1 Kings 18:20-21)

Many Christians don't realize it but knowing the "signs of the times" is not accomplished by reading, or hearing, the Word of God, but by putting what The Word says into practice. This is what brings out the distinction between the obedient and disobedient natures within ourselves -- our character's potential makeup, thus enabling us to know the signs of the times.

For example, today I read and hear Jesus as He tells us to: "Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you." (Luke 6:30-31)

Tomorrow I'm walking down the street and someone approaches me and asks if I can spare $5. What's the first thing that comes to my mind?

Do I immediately recall the Lord's instructions, reach into my pocket for $5 and hand it to the person and say something like, "Here you go, be blessed in the name of Jesus and thank you for the opportunity to do what The Lord says"? Or do I look around to see who might be watching, then look the person up and down in an effort to somehow "judge" whether he is a worthy candidate for my generosity and to make sure he is I inquire what he intends to use the money for?

The first response would without question be in obedience to Christ. The latter would be contrary to Christ's teaching. So in this encounter I can recognize within myself BOTH the tendencies to do what Jesus says and to not-do what He says.

As Paul put it in Romans 7 concerning the instructions of "the Law", we can substitute "Christ's words":

The Law and Sin

7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”[b] 8 But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of coveting. For apart from the law, sin was dead. 9 Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. 10 I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death. 11 For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death. 12 So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.

13 Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! Nevertheless, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it used what is good to bring about my death, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.

14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature[d] a slave to the law of sin.

So we can see in Paul's predicament our own. There is a distinction that becomes apparent within our own potential character makeup, but ONLY as we encounter the opportunity to do one of two things: put Christ's teaching on giving into practice, OR NOT. A "war" ensues between the two natures or attitudes within us, thus making for us a clear distinction between the part of me that wants to do what the Lord says and the part that does not.

Malachi 3:18

"And you will again see [within ourselves] the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those [attitudes] who serve God and those who do not."

And what is this observation of this distinction a "sign of the times" of?

Malachi 4:1

“Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the Lord Almighty. “Not a root or a branch will be left to them. 2 But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves. 3 Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act,” says the Lord Almighty.

Genesis 1:14

And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years..."

Matthew 16:1-3

The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven. He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times."

Matthew 7

True and False Disciples

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

The Wise and Foolish Builders

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

James 1

Listening and Doing

19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. 21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.

26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

"The world" is what influences us to NOT-DO what the Lord says. After all, the world teaches that giving some low-life beggar $5 of my hard-earned money, that he's probably just going to waste on booze or drugs, would be the "wrong" thing to do. And so I keep my $5, let the beggar know what a loser he is for asking people for money, and walk away with my nose in the air and feeling righteous for doing so. Yet what did the Lord say again?

"Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you."

To justify my not-giving, I rationalize that the Lord didn't really mean "everyone" and so deceive myself. For The Lord also says in Matthew 25:

clearrectangle.gif

31“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

I believe that the prophetic scriptures of the Bible have already been fulfilled except for America's judgement and the great tribulation that will follow that judgement. And I believe our judgement will be with that of a great earthquake. I'm not talking about a 6 or 7 earthquake, but rather a 10 or the very  highest on the richter scale.

I believe it will destroy completely Washington DC, symbolized as that of "the great city which reigns over the kings of the earth."  (Rev.17:18)

And I believe that it's coming soon.

That's an interesting thought. Why do you think that Washington DC is "the great city"? Surely other cities in the past have been similarly powerful, and some will again be that powerful in the future. Why is WDC "the great city"?

Can I ask why you believe it is soon?

>>>Why is WDC  "the great city"?<<<

There are different symbols given in Revelation 17  for us to ponder.

I believe that "MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT" is a reference to AMERICA, the nation.  And that,

"that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth" is a reference to Washington D.C., the government which reigns over the European nations (the kings) of the earth.  (verse 18)

>>>Can I ask why you believe it is soon?<<<

I believe America's judgment  will come before 2017, and here's why:

In chapter 9, verses 24 and 25, Daniel gave a 70th year timeline for the return of Christ.  He said that Christ would return to earth 69 years following the restoration of the nation of Israel, which occurred in 1948.

So then, Christ's coming should be around the year 2017. And according to Rev.19:2-7 Babylon the Great (America) is to be judged prior to Christ's second coming.  Therefore our judgment should occur sometime between now and 2017.

Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
