I believe that our rewards in heaven are based on what we did with the knowledge we gained in our walk with Christ; our motivations and our faithfulness.

Something to consider when you are planning your rewards ...

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Hello everyone, I was just wanting to get a clearification on the different kinds of rewards or crowns that are given to believers in heaven. What exactly are they, what do they consist of, and if I was starting out as a new believer or a believer that has re dedicated their life, what do I do to obtain them?

Is it all based on the number of people I lead to Christ?

And or does it depend upon how little I sin once I become a believer?

Also, do the troubles I go through in life have anything to do with these rewards?

What else do you all know of that I can do to obtain these rewards?

Thank you all for your time, God bless.

There are various crowns mentioned on the NT (Exultation - 1 Thes 2:19, Righteousness - 2 Tim 4:8, Life - 1:12, etc). All of these crowns describe the same thing which is eternal life in Heaven. Heaven will be eternal, is for the righteous, and will be filled with glory. These are all proper descriptors for the crown we will receive if we remain faithful. We will all receive the same reward in Heaven. This reward is eternal life with God. Matthew 18:1-6 is a good set of scriptures for addressing this question. The disciples ask Jesus which of them will be ranked the highest in Heaven? Jesus counters by telling them to only be concerned with getting into Heaven. The only thing you have to do to receive the crown is to be faithful. We must obey God.

The reward for EVERYONE who is faithful unto death is a crown of life (Revelation 2:10), which is Heaven.

HEAVEN is every saint's reward.

But also remember that what is a reward for a human ego is not a reward in heaven. The reward may be that you are given the honor of suffering for Christ.

We have to get over this idea that we are going to get things in heaven or that heaven is about things that this world cares about. Its not.

I don't understand why people ask what we will get in Heaven. They obviously don't understand the nature of Heaven itself. Heaven is rest from this world, the presence of the glory of God, and His love for eternity. What else do we need EXCEPT Heaven, after this life? Being in Heaven with God is the greatest reward possible.

Thank you all very much for responding! That has helped quite alot. One of the reasons why I was so nervous about it was when I was just doing some general research into this topic, I came accross this web article...

http://www.thewordte...s_in_heaven.htm

The way it is written really put me in a epic guilt trip. I mean, the author makes you think that there will be people who are miserable in heaven because they didn't do enough or lead enough people to Christ.

Plus when I read the article I somehow got the impression the author was yelling at me. Do you all get that same sinsation when you read it? Anyway, thank you all again, and God bless.

Striving for crowns is scriptual as seen in 1 Cor 9:25 so yes I certainly would love many crowns which I could lay at the feet of The Lord Jesus one day. We know we cannot earn our place in heaven but we sure can strive for those crowns for the Savior...I would not to appear before Him with nothing to lay at His feet.

If the article which I felt was pretty good gave you the feeling that you were being yelled at then just maybe the Holy spirit would have you examine your heart..which having read the article I feel we all could do....we all need to take stock of our lives from time to time. 2 Cor 3:15 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Blessings

I don't think we really get crowns on this earth though. Christ crowns us with eternal life, and that's about it, but that's all we could ever need or want, and so much more.

Do you think you will receive rewards in Heaven....in the sense that Heaven is the abode of the righteous, our final destiny?

Or do you believe our Heavenly Father will reward the faithful in the 'world to come'....eg. New Earth?

I make the distinction as there seems to be some confusion in Christian terminology and understanding, compared to biblical narrative.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
