I agree with all the other posters here. Occasions of sin are to be avoided. But, what is worse, is if by our actions we give scandal. "It would be better to have a giant millstone tied around your neck and to be cast into the sea." Even without the chemistry, it is inappropriate for a married man or woman to be alone in a private setting with a member of the opposite sex.

If you feel there is an "attraction" - there really is no need to even answer this... GO your separate ways and do not let temptations of the flesh affect your walk with God or your ability to shepherd your flock in your church. You must be an example - not the problem. If you are living for God, you already know what you have to do.

One word, and if you need scripture to back it up, ask.

I was going to ask - what denomination?

What denomination? That's an odd and inappropriate question. I don't think we are allowed to discuss denomination in here. As far as I know, God does not allow adultery in any valid denomination.

Oh sorry I didn't know it was inappropriate because I've seen several other people discussing it in these forums.... I didn't think it was an odd question though. I know of many denominations where this problem would be seen as normal and "ok".

I never implied that i thought adultery was allowed by God though.....

Also my question wasn't for you... Sorry if it seemed like it was from the way I quoted things.

Edit: Sorry I just realised how confusing my quote marks are... My IQ has dropped about 50 points in the last year as I've been so sick so please be patient with me, your sister! I didn't mean to confuse. I was agreeing with Shiloh62's point, and then adding my own thoughts to it. Time for bed now...

Sorry for the confusion ellarose. I thought you were asking me; I know sometimes the moderators frown on us discussing denomintions in here. I agree with you on wondering what church would allow the type of behavior hechosme is describing here, and with him in a leadership role especially. Get some rest and I hope you get to feeling better. Sorry we strted out on the wrong foot.

I agree with the post that this should be stopped and that they need to get this out in the open. What I see is this man doing the right thing by recognizing this situation and wanting to take action against it. So he is a minister and married his flesh is still flesh and dlesh is weak. I would answer NO to his question no friends of opposite sex if you are married. It an cause situations like this. Remeber If you dont heed the advice and somewhat harsh statements this could ruin your career, your marriage, and possibly your soul. Take it from one that is well known to what its like to loose everything because of the lust of the flesh, its not worth it.

Me and one of the other associate ministers in my church have become very close and we talk a lot on the phone but it's strictly about church, singing, and just casual talk about our jobs and kids and stuff. But we both are attracted to each other. Neither one of use have mentioned anything out of the way to the other one but we just know because the chemistry be so thick in the room when we're together working on a project or something. Sometimes we have to be alone and we don't say anything but oure eye contact be so strong. Is God pleased with us feeling this way even though we have not acted on these feelings but continue to praise our spouses to each other and remind ourselves of how good our own marriages are? I see this as a way of denying the flesh but what do you do about those feelings even when you've already made your decision not to sin?

Stait from the Mouth of our Lord..... You are an adulterer.

Matt 5:28-30

28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

NKJV

I would suggest that you find some way to not be aground her, or start poking out your eyes...... and I'm not trying to be funny. You are on a train headed strait for disaster and you'll not only destroy your families, but hurt the Church while you're at it.

Fez is right....... Run.

This temptation is of Satan. God has no part in it. Listen to the Holy Spirit (and to these posters) and end this relationship while there is still the innocence of action. Otherwise, your ministry will be destroyed.

If you believe in God's holy word, then heed this:

Leviticus 20:10 (King James Version)

10And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

Hummm... chemistry... I do believe that is a politically correct way to say you and your friend are lusting after each other...

Repent.. now... while you are still free enough to walk away...stay away until that repentance has cleared both of your hearts and minds from this sin...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
