  1. @Debp This is helpful advice for us all. I am someone who struggles with swallowing issues (and is concerned about choking on food.) I appreciate you sharing this.
  2. @In Him Sounds wonderful. So happy for you, sis! I wish I could be there with you. Take me with you next time? lol Amen.
  3. @Journey365 Hi. I just wanted to say thanks for this thread. And I really liked what you had to say in your last post where you give examples from the Bible. God bless you
  4. @Tzephanyahu Thanks. I really appreciate the info, brother. You know this stuff is right up my alley I greatly enjoy it.
  5. @Neighbor Turtle pileup...I love it! That's a fitting way to describe it. Sweet memories about reading to your children. My daughter's favorite was "Green Eggs And Ham." Yep. Yertle the Turtle. That story actually had quite a good moral to it. Makes me think of Proverbs saying how pride goes before a fall. Dr Seuss was one of a kind. lol
  6. @Neighbor Amen. This is so true. I collect quotes. Some may think this a quirky habit but I really enjoy it. May I collect this one from you, neighbor?
  7. Finding out that an unsaved loved one cried out to Jesus , "Lord be merciful to me a sinner" and He made them a new creation in Him.
  8. @Willa Wow. That really IS scary. I praise God that you are alright!
  9. BUGS!!!! There is something about them that really BUGS me... The tiny ones drive me crazy (little gnats swarming and flying in my face) and the big ones are creepy crawly. Then, there are all the 'biters' that have no mercy. Mosquitoes come to mind. So insects are one fear. But yep, closed spaces and heights are definitely up there, too.
  10. @Blood Bought 1953 A herd of turtles? You are afraid ... of Us???? (Note: The one on the top is me. LOL) Nah. We're friendly folks. We promise not to run you over.
  11. 1 Be still, my soul: the Lord is on your side; bear patiently the cross of grief or pain; leave to your God to order and provide; in ev'ry change he faithful will remain. Be still, my soul: your best, your heav'nly Friend through thorny ways leads to a joyful end. 2 Be still, my soul: your God will undertake to guide the future as he has the past. Your hope, your confidence let nothing shake; all now mysterious shall be bright at last. Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know his voice who ruled them while he dwelt below. 3 Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart, and all is darkened in the vale of tears, then shall you better know his love, his heart, who comes to soothe your sorrow and your fears. Be still, my soul: your Jesus can repay from his own fullness all he takes away. 4 Be still, my soul: the hour is hast'ning on when we shall be forever with the Lord, when disappointment, grief, and fear are gone, sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored. Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past, all safe and blessed we shall meet at last.
  12. @missmuffet Renewing our minds is vital in the Christian life. Romans 12:2 is a wonderful scripture. Here is another: "Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable--if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy--dwell on these things." Philippians 4:8 is a guide God gave us to determine whether or not something is worth thinking upon. When wondering, we are able to go to this scripture and check anything against it. Asking ourselves each of these questions: *Is it true? *Is it honorable? *Is it just? *Is it pure and lovely? (that one would rule out many television programs and movies with sex and violence, as you pointed out), *Is it commendable or (as KJV says "of good report?") The summary is in the last sentence- *"If there is any moral excellence (KJV says "virtue") *If it is praiseworthy (-if there is anything deemed worthy of praise)-- cherish the thought of these things. I have found it helpful to run things through the filter of this scripture.
  13. @missmuffet Thanks so much for posting this important topic.
  14. @Omegaman 3.0 Hallelujah! Feeling transported to Heaven. Takes me to another place...to the one I long to be. Worthy is the Lamb who was slain!
  15. @Rebecca Pickles I went to YouTube to hear the video just now. I like the part at the end where he shares scriptures. This makes me think of Job 1:21 And Job said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I shall return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD.”
  16. @Tampered With Thanks for this good point and the great scriptures.
  17. @Dennis1209 Hmm. I'm curious about this one. Some say Luke was not. But that can't be who you are referring to.
  18. D @Dennis1209 I loved what you had to say and fully agree with it. The OT has some touching and poignant word pictures of Our Savior. I find richness and deeper meaning through the foreshadowing and typology there.
  19. Have Thine Own Way Lord (Lyrics Below)Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way! Thou art the Potter, I am the clay. Mold me and make me after Thy will, While I am waiting, yielded and still. Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way! Search me and try me, Master, today! Whiter than snow, Lord, wash me just now, As in Thy presence humbly I bow. Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way! Wounded and weary, help me, I pray! Power, all power, surely is Thine! Touch me and heal me, Savior divine. Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way! Hold o’er my being absolute sway! Fill with Thy Spirit ’till all shall see Christ only, always, living in me.
  20. @Neighbor This paragraph really packs a punch. It is so true. As the old hymn puts it, "On Christ the solid Rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand."
  21. Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. (Romans 8:26)
  22. @Not me Thanks for posting such a comforting message! "You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free" (John 8:32)"If the Son shall set you free you shall be free indeed" (John 8:36) Hallelujah!!
  23. @Jostler Amen. It's nice to hear someone express this. I have felt like a culture misfit for a very long time. I got saved at a time when the term 'Jesus freak' was commonly tossed at you. Priceless truths! Thanks for sharing them.
