  1. I hate companies that do this to candidates. It's a waste of time - mine especially. If I'm looking for work I have little time for stupid silly games. The time wasted on things like that psych test could be used for something more productive (like the interview at a company that doesn't waste people's time.) Yes, I've run into several companies over the years that do this. I usually try to have some fun with it and react in ways that screw up their whole little game. Best one: They left me in a room with cameras, etc. for a bit over 2 hours - so having learned in the military to grab some rest whenever you could I took a nap. Then when someone finally showed up I made them wait while I went to the bathroom. It was pretty clear they were not happy at that point, so then I grilled them about why they'd wasted 2 hours of my time in a polite professional manner. Someone else showed up for the real interview and I was surprised when they made me an offer awhile later. As someone said on LinkeIn.com about this stuff: "Be the dumpster fire that spreads light in the darkness, or at least be the purple squirrel!"
  2. I'd recommend finding a good financial advisor for that kind of advice. You should be able to find one who is a believer as well. I was surprised how easy they are to find. Perhaps someone at church knows one?
  3. I'd like to suggest the questions be answered and belittling comments be withheld. There are several rapture view points or theories and no one has a 100% picture of exactly how all that is going to work out. Therefore it is usually best to focus on Christ and the things he told us to do, namely share the gospel. 1. I have no idea what the fascination is about what happens after the church is gone in the pre-trib as some call it. I grew up mostly outside the US so it's never been a big "thing" for me personally. 2. My opinion only, but I find no edification in that discussion. Revelation is pretty clear that life on Earth is going to get really ugly and billions are going to die as a result. (I have a very strong preference for not being here for that, and I'm not afraid to admit it.) That's not something I enjoy discussing especially after seeing a few things in the Gulf War I'd rather forget. God's judgement on a wicked world is something I personally find sobering. God is merciful and patient - but His patience does have a limit and once that passes there is judgement. This is part of Who God is for He cannot abide sin.

Hmm . . . maybe the pounding they've gotten that Hamas instigated is waking some folks up. Time will tell.
  5. God's Smuggler is about Brother Andrew who smuggled bibles into Eastern Europe when the Soviets were in power. Quite inspiring for the young believer I was when I first read it. Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas is another good one. The Voice of the Martyrs site has more info on persecution in countries around the the world too. They can be eye opening.
  6. Most of the open positions are for the Middle East so far. The wage offers are pretty insane, but there doesn't seem to be many takers (and for good reason!) Many require travel to and extended stays in potential war zone areas and I made it clear I'm not interested in those. lol One good thing is that Afghanistan is no longer on the locations list. That's good because something tells me I wouldn't get along very well with the Taliban. This was a possibility only, but the last time I looked into this it led to a long stay in the EU. We'll see how things go in the mean time.
  7. Wow, okay. Fair enough. There has always been unsolved crimes, but do you really want things like the honor killing Jade mentioned going on here in the US, maybe right down the street? I'm not okay with that even though it may happen anyway. So if I understand correctly: We're supposed to just do nothing and sit back and let it happen? Not even try to wake people up to the danger - and maybe wake a few believers and churches up in the process with the Lord's help? I'm reminded of the saying, "All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
  8. Nope. I'm not leaving because of Trump or Musk. I'm considering leaving if and when I get a job offer in the UK or EU though. I'll be looking into the requirements to stay while I'm there in case something has changed, but I have no real reason to return because there's nothing to come back to here. All the older family members passed away years ago and those still alive are overseas.
  9. I have family in the UK, Germany, and Australia, and I'm aware of the craziness that's taken over. I'm going to go where I can find work I'll deal with all that however the Holy Spirit leads. Funny thing about the praying in your head thing . . . they can't read minds. So we're okay for now. Perhaps that's a mercy - for them. My mind tends to be a bad neighborhood they might not want to access! lol
  10. I'd leave if I could. Oddly enough I've had some interest from my old agency that I worked for in UK years ago. Seems being older is not a problem for them as it is in the US - and some companies actually understand the need to train new hires over there. (What a concept!) I'm working with a recruiter there because at this point I'm pretty disgusted with the hiring games in US. I guess I'm considering leaving the US because I can still go where I can get work. I just need to find out how that might affect a few other things going on. So it may get interesting. I find myself wondering how we got here as a culture where a person wants to work, is physically capable of work, and no one will hire you. smh If someone had popped out of a time machine and told me about this stuff, say in the early '80s, I would have asked them what kind of drugs they were on.
  11. What of it? Perhaps its just "of the world" but that doesn't mean that the church shouldn't keep it's eyes open. Its a mission field right on your front door step for one thing. We can still share Christ with them for now without necessarily taking our lives in our hands. That will change with time as their numbers increase. If the Islamization is allowed to continue that will be the case just as in some areas in France where the muslims won't talk to the police. Suspected murders go unsolved because the western authorities area effectively walled out in these areas. This is not okay.
  12. It should also be understood that in Islam there is no so-called separation of "church and state". They are one and the same in Islam as other one said. This is completely different than the western way of doing things. There are several areas here in Phoenix that have looked a lot like places I saw in the Middle East when I was there in the 90s. They are building some huge new mosques too which means they are here to stay . . . and so it goes. Europe and UK will be lost soon if they don't stand up for their western culture.
  13. I could force myself to live on $140k/year. I've seen some of shrieking apocalyptic stories in the lame stream (union funded) media about all the folks getting laid off. Hard to empathize when I'm having trouble getting a $20/hr job. The fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer funds needs to stop.
  14. There's always someone saying, "I'm leaving the country if xxxxx wins!" so that's just background noise that gets ignored as far as I'm concerned. There are some valid reasons to leave the country behind should someone decide to do so though. Some ex-pats are retirees who can live much cheaper outside the USA. Changes to the tax laws mean its also cheaper to get local citizenship in your country of choice then renounce American citizenship so you don't have to pay American tax on your income any longer. I have a sister who did this because she and her family decided they like living in Germany and have nothing here in the US to return to. She did so to avoid double taxation. I met a couple recently who are now retired and are finishing up their move to Costa Rica. They say its really nice there and they moved because of the low cost of living not politics.
  15. Good to hear. For ads there's the uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger extensions to keep the garbage off the screens. They work great.
  16. There used to be a way to download the videos off of YouTube with a browser extension. It's been a long time since I did it, but a Google of, "How to download video from Youtube." might help. I used to download the video to my laptop for use offline.
  17. I'm old - but not that old! 😁
  18. I ran into something related to the trans/gender equality thing in real life. I applied with a major trucking company and part of their orientation/training program is sharing the truck with a co-driver. This is a normal part of the industry for some drivers to run as a team - but here's the fun part: you get to do this with someone whose not your spouse. I was told I would need to be willing to have a female "roommate" in the truck who I'm not married to. They asked if I had a problem with that . . . and yes, I told them I had a problem with it and why. The same thing is being tried in some homeless shelters too due to the woke agenda that's been pushed. Yeah. Coed shelters. That's going to work swimmingly! (yes, I'm being sarcastic.) Found out about that one while looking up some shelters for a guy in a recovery group. This stuff has infested the culture deeper than many think. To quote the late R.C. Sproul on this messed up gender stuff in the culture, "What's wrong with you people?!" On a related subject: Where are the feminists who screamed for women's rights for years when it comes to biological males in female sports? How is that fair and equal to women? Last item: I'm not too surprised by all this stuff since a lost culture is going to act, well, lost. There was lots of perversion in ancient pagan cultures too. The lost will always act in character because they do not (yet) have Christ.
  19. Same here. I also have a problem with critters if I have to sleep on the ground. I really don't like sharing camp with the snakes, rats, and other rodents. I'd prefer and RV or a nice hotel room. Indoor plumbing and hot showers are kinda nice.
  20. Executioners? Really? Suicides? Really? The lame stream media is really shrieking over this stuff but it happens all the time in real life - no matter what bunch of pollies is in power and its just sad. Seems some have a twisted view of how regular folks deal with it. Many have been laid off at least once in their careers. You learn from it and move on: 1. You just got laid off/fired/canned/sacked, etc. 2. Pray after the initial shock wears off. Ask the Lord what you can learn from this and the path forward. (If they are a believer.) 3. Finish polishing up your resume, etc. because there were warning signs this was coming and you should have already started or completed this. 4. Turn on the job alerts, etc. that you set up earlier due to the warning signs in #3. 5. Set your status to "seeking work" on those job boards in #4. 6. . . . and so it goes. Pretty standard stuff. No need for murder suicides. Just do the next thing about looking for another job. No need for excess unneeded drama-rama. Companies let people go en masse all the time even in a good economy. Some are pretty dirty about how they do it: It's Monday morning and many folks find their access badges don't work. Security is told to tell them go home, that they don't work there any more. My partner and I were the Security staff that got to deal with that one. It was not fun.
  21. Wow. I thought it was funny - since it was a comedy skit & because I've seen some of Kamala's word salad speeches on TV. Kinda like SNL and the like as kwik said.
  22. I'm thankful that Scripture is honest. While polygamy is not condemned in Scripture it does show that the practice can result in unintended consequences through the centuries. Two wives haggling over who gets to sleep with their husband? Children of one wife preferred (or loved more) than those from the other? Doesn't sound like the best way to run a family to me, but we are fallen creatures and such problems with always arise. I personally take those examples to show that, "One wife at a time." is sufficient. Quite a few married folks agree that one partner at a time is enough trouble! lol
  23. Drill baby, drill? lol
  24. 50% off chocolate is always in season. lol
  25. 8 years is a long time but I'll still have the tortilla chips & salsa ready if I'm still around by then. I still have a preference for being home with Christ which would be far better, as Paul said. (I'm not suicidal or any of that . . . it's just that if Jesus decided to come back tonight - I don't have any other plans!) :)
